Yes!

The library's collections are generally open for walk-in access to VDOT employees during regular business hours (8:30-4:30, Mon.-Fri., excluding state holidays), but if you're making a special trip it may pay to check in with us ahead of time and we always advise you to bring your VDOT ID card to help you get into the Shelburne building.

If you want to schedule a time to consult with a librarian or get help with your research we are here for you. But if you simply want to come in, look around, or pick up a few books, you are always welcome!

In fact, if you have a library card you can actually check out materials you need before your visit using our library catalog, and we'll hold them for you to pick up (again, please let us know when to expect you).

There are occasions during normal business hours when all staff are away. With this in mind we recommend you get in touch with us before your visit so we can be sure to serve you most effectively and efficiently.
