VDOT employees who see something like this can probably get to the document, but it may be a longer route than what they are used to.

TRB has transitioned many of online publications to a new  format through the National Academies Press (NAP). It is a slightly different user experience from the past, but publications like this are still available for free online viewing to VDOT employees/TRB sponsors.

To read this item online, you have two options:

1. From this page: https://www.nap.edu/catalog/22617/design-guide-for-bridges-for-service-life look for and click on the "Read Online" button in the upper right corner. The document will open in an "on screen" pdf viewer:

2. Or, from this page: https://www.nap.edu/catalog/22617/design-guide-for-bridges-for-service-life look for the button "Buy from TRB.org" and click on it.  That button looks like this:

NAP Buy from TRB.org button

That will take you to this "blurb" page http://www.trb.org/Main/Blurbs/168760.aspx where you can click on the blue "View this pdf" button. When you do you will see this new screen allowing you to "Download as a guest:

NAP download as guess screen

Note that I have entered my VDOT email address (important, it must be your VDOT e-mail!) and accepted the terms of use.  Click "Continue" and you can download a pdf of the publication to your computer.

If you ever want to recommend the library purchase a hard copy of such a publication (as opposed to simply viewing the pdf online) please use this online form: http://virginiadot.libsurveys.com/recommend VDOT employees only please!
