Use of all content (books, videos, summaries, audio books, etc.) found on the Skillsoft Books site is subject to the restrictions set forth in Skillport / Terms and Conditions of Use. Those terms and conditions apply to all VDOT users.
Among the wording in those terms is a section titled User Responsibilities for Use of the Sites and Site Content Downloads, which states:
Depending on the nature of your subscription, you may be entitled to download certain Site Content, chapters or chapter-type content as indicated on the Site by a download link. Depending on the Site Content, you may or may not be limited to a specific number of downloads as designated on the Site's download page. These downloads can be printed or stored on your hard drive for your personal use only and must not be shared with others. You are authorized to use the downloads only during your paid subscription period and are required to delete and/or otherwise discard any Site Content you have downloaded from the Sites when your subscription to the Sites is no longer active.
The new Skillsoft Books interface will automatically limit access to current VDOT employees only. In addition, the system is designed to restrict downloads where necessary. So if you find and use a source (including download links) in Skillsoft Books it should work for you "automatically" for you and for others at VDOT.
Please do not attempt to download or copy content from Skillsoft Books or any other subscription database, and transfer it directly to another VDOT user via e-mail, posting on SharePoint or any other way. Instead, please use the "Share" function to send a link to a friend at VDOT. The share feature looks like this:
Regarding printing, Skillsoft Books is accessible from any connected device, including mobile devices. It is considered a "screen only" E-Book system, meaning book content is not typically downloaded to a specific device (like a Kindle E-book reader or a Nook). However, because all content in Skillsoft Books is available to all VDOT employees simultaneously, there should be little need to print more than a page here or there.
Large scale or systematic printing is prohibited, however, you can print a page at a time using the "Print" link at the bottom of each book page, circled in the image below:
