The VDOT Research Library, along with many other VDOT locations (including the Central Office information desk and VDOT Welcome Centers and rest areas) has provided the public "limited" free copies of county road maps and the state map, Virginia byways map, and some other specialized maps.

The library will furnish up to 2 complimentary copies of any map we have in stock to visitors.  Anyone who wishes to get a larger quantity of maps can contact VDOT's Communications Office or order maps (at a cost of 50 cents each) by using this order form: http://www.virginiadot.org/travel/maporder.asp

Some maps, like the State Transportation Map, can also be printed for free from the Web in 8.5 x 11 inch "sections" See: http://www.virginiadot.org/travel/maps-state.asp City maps can also be printed or ordered online from: http://www.virginiadot.org/travel/maps-cityinset.asp

VDOT employees have access to reasonable quantities of free county and other maps. They can use the form above to order a free copy of the state transportation map or byways map.

If a VDOT employee needs a large quantity of maps for a specific event, a good starting place is the Communications Department's Page on DOTi. (VDOT employees only)
