The VDOT Library has many great business sources for "full-text" business research and information, depending on your needs, the "format" you prefer, and your goals. Consider these suggestions, listed by format:

For ARTICLES consider searching:

Business Source Corporate Plus: More than 59 million full-text articles from 4,500 magazines, trade magazines, and peer-reviewed journals. Examples of business titles that might be relevant at VDOT include: ENR, Harvard Business Review, Governing, and Businessweek. NOTE: Any business article you have the citation for the VDOT Library can deliver to you! Use our ILL/Document Delivery request form.

Harvard Business Review (HBR): Perhaps the best-known business and management magazine, HBR covers a range of practical topics, including: leadership, negotiation, strategy, operations, marketing, and finance. Several management concepts and business terms were first given prominence in HBR articles but authors and researchers such as: Clayton Christensen, Peter F. Drucker, Justin Fox, Michael E. Porter, Rosabeth Moss Kanter and Robert S. Kaplan.

Library Core Journals List (Business): About 30 of the library's most popular business magazines and journals with direct links to online articles. NOTE: Points to resources in multiple databases.

For BOOKS, we recommend:

Skillsoft Books: Contains about 28,000 full-text eBooks, of which more than 11,000 are from the "BusinessPro" collection. Consider focusing your search on the Business Skills section of Skillsoft Books (Caveat: This sub-group may take a while to load, so be patient.) NOTE: E-Books in this collection are designed for "on screen" reading as opposed to downloading to portable E-book devices, however, all content is accessible from any Internet connected device.

BusinessCore eBooks: More than 10,000 eBook titles in: leadership & management, project management, business communications, finance & accounting, and human resources. Also provides authoritative titles on subjects like: strategic planning, negotiating, time management and corporate learning.

Request an Interlibrary Loan: Need a book you can't find in the sources above? Use this form and we will borrow it from another library. Takes 1-2 weeks and is free of charge.

No time for an entire book? Try a BOOK SUMMARY:

Business Book Summaries: "Cliffs-notes-like" summaries of nearly 4,400 business books are a great solution if you want to know more about a book (or a topic) but you don't have time to read the entire book. About 3,400 of the summaries include an "audio summary" option.

Skillsoft Book Summaries: In addition to thousands of Ebooks and Audio Books, Skillsoft contains around 1,400 book summaries, most of which are focused on business titles. For help finding summaries see the video "Finding and Using Book Summaries in Skillsoft Books."

Finally, don't forget about AUDIO BOOKS:

Skillsoft Audio Books: In addition to thousands of Ebooks, Skillsoft now includes many complete audio book versions of popular titles. More than 3,200 business-related audio books are included in VDOT's subscription, and they can be discovered using the "filter" option on search results. The video "How to Find Audio Books in Skillsoft Books" demonstrates how to limit a search to audio books.
