The library offers a robust literature search service to all VDOT employees.  At this time we only offer this service to VDOT employees.

We offer three kinds of searches, in order of complexity:

1. SIMPLE SEARCH: Need a short list of recommended articles, or a simple search done?  This is the one for you. We can typically do this in 1-5 days.

2. REGULAR SEARCH: This search typically takes 1-3 weeks and is more thorough than a simple search. We also offer a "Fast Tracked" version of this search if you're in a rush.  Results are structured to save you time and if you need it we can provide a simple synthesis of the literature, including gap analysis and observations that will help guide your next steps.  A standard search takes 1-3 weeks.

3. SEARCH WITH "SYNTHESIS" This is is a more thorough literature search, with more analysis/synthesis and structure to inform researchers and decision makers. It often includes contact information for other known experts on a topic and frequently includes analysis of "best practices" from peer groups.  This search typically takes 3-6 weeks to complete.
